Finca Sophia
An exceptional estate dedicated to the excellence of Geisha tea
Nestled in the mountains near the village of Nueva Suiza, in Volcán, Panama, Finca Sophia is a high-altitude farm where time, silence, and nature shape coffees of rare precision. Founded in 2008 by Willem Boot, a pioneer in the specialty coffee industry, alongside Helen Russell and David Pohl, the finca was born from a shared vision: to create a place where coffee expresses itself in perfect harmony with its surroundings.
Finca Sophia evolves in harmony with its ecosystem. Coffee is grown there with the utmost care, in the heart of a preserved landscape bordering La Amistad International Park. Under the leadership of Kelly Hartmann, the farm has incorporated large buffer zones dedicated to biodiversity, allowing local flora and fauna to coexist naturally with the coffee trees.
This approach, which respects all living things, is at the heart of the finca’s identity. This unwavering commitment has enabled Finca Sophia to establish itself as a global leader in specialty coffee.
Its Geisha coffees are regularly recognized at the Best of Panama competition, a testament to its exceptional craftsmanship and ongoing pursuit of excellence, with particularly remarkable rankings for its Geisha Lavado and Geisha Natural coffees in recent years.
