Abu Coffee’s Geisha Honey 4135 is a coffee that doesn’t need to do anything extra—it stands on its own, and the pleasure comes from the balance of its flavors.

The black tea emerges first, almost as if suspended in the air. Then the flavor in the cup deepens with a hint of raspberries, before evolving into something sunnier and livelier with notes of orange zest. The result is floral without being perfumed, and fruity without tasting like fruit juice.

Abu Coffee is located in Canas Verde, in the Boquete region, in the highlands of Chiriquí, Panama. The farm is partnered with José Luttrell, a producer who needs no introduction and with whom we have been working for several years now.

Panamanian Geisha coffee sometimes carries a burdensome reputation—that of a coffee that’s inevitably extravagant, inevitably floral, and inevitably bursting with wild aromatic notes. Our Lot 4135 offers a different kind of Geisha. It doesn’t try to check all the boxes for the “perfect” coffee; instead, it focuses on three key aromatic notes: raspberry, orange zest, and black tea. Three notes, many nuances. Perhaps that’s the essence of a successful coffee—when you don’t need to describe it with 25 adjectives to make you want to take another sip.
